Yes. Expert Rehabilitation Group is an in-network physical therapy provider with Clover Health at both our Totowa and Nutley, New Jersey clinics.

Clover Health is a New Jersey–based insurer offering Medicare Advantage plans, and a meaningful number of our older patients in Passaic and Essex counties carry Clover coverage.

What Being In Network Actually Means

Being in network means we have a contracted rate with the carrier, so you pay your plan’s in-network cost share rather than out-of-network rates. It does not mean every service is automatically covered or unlimited — coverage still depends on your individual plan, your deductible, and any visit limits or authorization rules it carries.

We treat orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions exclusively: orthopedic physical therapy, post-surgical rehabilitation, spine care, and injury rehabilitation at our Totowa and Nutley clinics.

Clover Is a Medicare Advantage Plan

Because Clover is a Medicare Advantage product, it follows Medicare-style rules rather than commercial-plan rules. In practice that means a physician generally needs to certify your plan of care for therapy to be covered, and your progress must be documented against functional goals.

Clover plans frequently include benefits aimed at keeping members mobile and out of the hospital, which makes physical therapy — particularly balance, gait, and fall-prevention work — a natural fit.

Do You Need a Referral?

Under New Jersey’s Direct Access law, Dr. Sheldon Shterengarts and Dr. Roger Avecillas can evaluate and treat you without a prescription from another provider.

That is the law. Your insurance contract is separate — some plans still require a referral in order to pay, even though one is not required to treat. Confirming that distinction for your specific plan is part of what we check when we verify your benefits.

Clover plans are generally PPO-style and often allow you to see an in-network provider without a referral, but physician certification of your therapy plan of care is still required. We coordinate that with your doctor.
