Is Oscar Health Accepted Here?

Yes. Expert Rehabilitation Group is an in-network physical therapy provider with Oscar Health at both our Totowa and Nutley, New Jersey clinics.

Oscar Health sells individual and small-group plans, largely through the health insurance marketplace, and Oscar members are seen at both our clinics at in-network rates.

What Being In Network Actually Means

Being in network means we have a contracted rate with the carrier, so you pay your plan’s in-network cost share rather than out-of-network rates. It does not mean every service is automatically covered or unlimited — coverage still depends on your individual plan, your deductible, and any visit limits or authorization rules it carries.

We treat orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions exclusively: orthopedic physical therapy, post-surgical rehabilitation, spine care, and injury rehabilitation at our Totowa and Nutley clinics.

Marketplace Plans and Narrower Networks

Oscar plans are usually purchased directly rather than through an employer, and marketplace plans tend to be built on tighter provider networks than large employer plans. That makes confirming in-network status genuinely important — with a narrow network, going out of network can mean no coverage at all rather than reduced coverage.

Marketplace plans also frequently carry higher deductibles. If you have not met yours yet, physical therapy visits may apply toward it. We will tell you what to expect before you commit to a course of care.

Do You Need a Referral?

Under New Jersey’s Direct Access law, Dr. Sheldon Shterengarts and Dr. Roger Avecillas can evaluate and treat you without a prescription from another provider.

That is the law. Your insurance contract is separate — some plans still require a referral in order to pay, even though one is not required to treat. Confirming that distinction for your specific plan is part of what we check when we verify your benefits.

Oscar plans are typically EPO-style and generally allow you to see an in-network provider without a referral, though some plans require prior authorization for therapy beyond an initial number of visits.
